Chiang Mai

Day 3

semi-overcast 30 °C

Booked Chiang Mai flights for 6:00 that evening. We had a bit of time to kill before the flight so we took our first tuk tuk ride down to the Grand Palace which we bargained down to 40 baht (one euro!) Bargaining skills getting better!! :) Got our first pics of Thai culture - buildings are so beautifully ornate.
Arrived in Chiang Mai later that evening, and readied ourselves for the 2 day trek to Mae Wang, home to the Karen Tribe, the next day!!

Hi Mel, Deborah here up in Boston with Lauren and Ashley...sounds like your trek was pretty exhausting, I feel bad I just went for a pedicure after walking the streets of Boston in the heat and humidity! Lauren shopping as usual she leaves tommorrow after her surprise visit...such a nice treat she hasn't been home since February. Must have been fun to ride with the elephants..they are such gentle souls....How is the heat? Hope your Deet is working.... Ashley just walked in and says Hi...keep us posted on your new adventures...so much fun to follow your travels vicariously! Love Deborah
