Visited Wat Po temple with a 150 foot reclining buddha cover in gold!! Shoes off for temples and cover up - putting on a jumper in this humidity is not fun!! Off to grand palace, which we actually never made because of torrential downpour and decided to get taxi to shopping centre - After all our tips, we jumped into an unmetered taxi!!! 200 baht. Promised never to do that again... MBK shopping centre literally has everything you want to buy, credit card made it's first showing on a brand spanking new digital camera!! We then waited at taxi stand outside, not like home!! - people blantantly skipping, people and tuk tuks shouting " you come here"!! , security guy waving his arms to move out of the way, and again we jumped into unmetered taxi!! Doh!! Ok, THIS time never again!!!! Had to laugh though, we tried our bargaining tactics for the first time from 200 baht to 100. "You cheap, you cheap" was response! So we gave up!!
Will check out trains/flights to Chiang Mai tomorrow. Will keep in touch!!
